Yamog is a non-profit organization based in Davao City that works to expand access to clean, reliable, and affordable community-owned and managed energy systems in underserved and remote areas of Mindanao. Our core work focuses on empowering rural grassroots and indigenous communities through the design and implementation of small-scale renewable energy solutions, particularly micro-hydropower and solar PV. Beyond infrastructure, Yamog emphasizes community ownership and long-term sustainability. We support the formation and strengthening of local community energy associations, which manage operations, maintain systems, and oversee governance, tariffs, and resource stewardship. Our approach has demonstrated to ensure that energy access translates into broader social and economic benefits, including improved livelihoods, education, and health services. Yamog also engages in capacity building, policy advocacy, and knowledge sharing, working with local governments, civil society, and development partners to promote inclusive and resilient energy systems. Our work integrates environmental protection, especially watershed protection and management, with community development, reflecting a holistic view of energy as both a technical and social challenge.
