The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in Manila works with Canadian commercial interests to maximize their potential in the global marketplace. We deliver on this commitment through building Canadian awareness of the challenges and opportunities presented by global commerce; assisting Canadian businesses to compete successfully for global opportunities; and, promoting Canada as a globally competitive location and partner for investment, innovation and value-added production. In the Philippines, we are continuing to broaden Canada’s footprint by maximizing trade and investment opportunities primarily offered by these priority sectors: Aerospace and Defence; Agriculture and Agri-Food; Cleantech; Education; Information and Communications Technologies; Infrastructure and Mining; including the provision of support to companies seeking to do business with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through our Office of Liaison with International Financial Institutions (OLIFI) and assistance to companies in navigating funding opportunities for climate-related projects. The four key services we offer our Canadian business clients are: • Preparation for International Markets through determining international competitiveness; deciding on a target market; collecting market and industry information; and improving international business strategy. • Market Potential Assessment through market intelligence and imparting advice on improving market strategy. • Qualified Contacts Research that may include: potential buyers and partners; professionals in financial and legal institutions; technology sources; agents; manufacturers; foreign regulatory authorities and foreign investment promotion agencies • Problem Solving through advising on market access problems and other business challenges, such as customs clearance and shipping; unfair business treatment; contract bidding; storage and warehousing; insurance coverage and claims; and overdue accounts receivable.
