Oikos Orchard & Farm (OOF) is a regenerative and integrated farm based in Sibonga, Cebu, established from a personal vision of farming that heals land, sustains livelihoods, and nurtures the human spirit. What began as a retirement plan evolved into a working model for sustainable agriculture following Typhoon Odette, which became a catalyst for purposeful action and innovation. OOF adopts syntropic agroforestry, a regenerative farming system that mimics natural forest ecosystems through polycropping, high-density planting, and biodiversity integration. Rejecting conventional, input-heavy commercial farming, OOF focuses on restoring soil health, improving microclimates, and enhancing ecological resilience while maintaining economic viability for small- to medium-scale farms. Over the years, OOF has “accidentally” grown into a living laboratory, attracting researchers, advocates, and institutions exploring regenerative farming, agroforestry, and climate resilience. The farm is home to the country’s first documented espaliered orchard, a Philippine native tree arboretum registered under the DENR, multiple Miyawaki forests, and an extensive nursery producing native and hardwood seedlings. Beyond food production, OOF integrates culture, spirituality, education, and community through agritourism, arts programs, and wellness-oriented experiences. Recognized as the first Slow Food Farm in the Philippines, OOF stands as a proof of concept that farming can be environmentally restorative, socially meaningful, and economically sustainable.
