The Palm Oil Industry started in Sultan Kudarat when Kenram Philippines Inc., converted its kenaf and ramie plantations to oil palm in 1967. Kenram was derived from the word “Kenaf” and “Ramie”. From an initial area of 167 hectares, the plantation expanded to 1,500 in 1972. The company further expanded its plantation to about 3,000 hectares, throughout-growership program in 1976 to 1980. In 1972, the palm oil mill of Kenram was established and started its operations with a capacity of 4TPH (tons per hour) of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to process the 1500-hectare company owned plantation. From 1980 to 1986, the company increased its processing capacity from 4TPH to 20TPH to process FFBs of outgrowers’ 3000 hectares plantation. In 1987, Kenram Industrial and Development, Incorporated (KIDI), a subsidiary company of Kenram Philippines Inc. (KPI), was formed to own and operate a mill.
