Trainings

Understanding power quality issues is a good starting point for solving any power quality related problem. Understanding means being able to grasp the material issues and translate these to what really strike the equipment and processes that end up as a power quality problem. This course exposes the participants to the discernable and practical aspects of the nature of power quality problems and how to go about finding effective and practical solutions for both commercial and industrial settings.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, the participants should:

  • Be able to fully understand the concept of power quality and what specifically becomes a power quality problem
  • Be able to assent to the view that solutions to power quality problems call for the joint effort of several parties, especially the end user, the utility, the equipment manufacturer, and the electrical designer
  • Be familiar with power quality standards
  • Be able to identify and differentiate various electric power disturbances that could lead to power quality problems
  • Be familiar with the general evaluation procedure followed in dealing with power quality problems
  • Be familiar with the correct/appropriate equipment specifications and tolerances for a given power system supply condition
  • Be acquainted with the typical causes and solutions to specific power quality problems
  • Be able to quantify the losses incurred due to power quality disturbances
  • Be able to apply appropriate power quality monitoring, solutions, and measurements for specific power quality problems
