Building on the Momentum of Global Climate Action
The Race to Zero Philippines Summit is strategically scheduled to coincide with the global momentum generated by Climate Week NYC 2024 and the forthcoming COP29. As the world converges to accelerate climate action, the Philippines stands at a crucial juncture to assert its commitment and leadership in the climate arena.
Urgency and Action: A Dual Mandate
The escalating impacts of climate change are visible worldwide, and the Philippines must join the global community in taking immediate and decisive action. In line with the objectives of Climate Week NYC and in anticipation of COP29, the Race to Zero Philippines Summit aims to catalyze urgent action by addressing and overcoming existing barriers to climate progress. This summit provides a crucial platform to unite stakeholders from various sectors, encouraging them to commit to ambitious and concrete steps toward achieving a net-zero future. It aligns with Race to Zero—the most extensive global campaign of non-state actors, including companies, cities, regions, financial, educational, and healthcare institutions—committed to taking rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer, zero-carbon world.
Leadership and Collaboration: Forging Pathways to Net Zero
As the first and only Accelerator for the Race to Zero campaign in the Philippines, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) is uniquely positioned to lead this transformative journey. The summit will not only highlight the critical pathways to achieving net zero carbon emissions but will also underscore the role of leadership in fostering collaborations that extend beyond borders. By aligning with the global agenda set forth during Climate Week NYC and the discussions anticipated at COP29, the summit will further emphasize the interconnectedness of global and local climate efforts.
Innovative Solutions and Sustainable Practices
The Race to Zero Philippines Summit in Manila will showcase case studies, science-based innovative solutions, and sustainable practices that can propel the Philippines toward a resilient and sustainable future. The summit will focus on practical, scalable strategies tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities in the Philippines. Most importantly, our goal is for you to leave with a roadmap to join the Race to Zero campaign and contribute to a zero-carbon future.
A Call to Action : A Special Invitation for Advocates to Lead the Charge in the Philippines
It's time to Lead! The Advocates of Race to Zero Philippines comprise a cohort of visionary leaders—companies, organizations, and individuals—who have voluntarily committed to leading the transformation of the Philippines' future. By supporting the campaign, advocates help shape a nation where the challenges of climate change are overcome through resilience and proactive adaptation. The contributions from advocates will directly fund activities aligned with the UN's Race to Zero roadmap, including data mapping for informed strategies, impact measurement, the launch of net-zero initiatives, and the expansion of successful projects. Advocates also support community programs, policy development, and the cultivation of public-private partnerships. Additionally, they receive opportunities to be spotlighted at Race to Zero local and international events, establish cross-cutting global connections for partnership opportunities, and gain recognition for their leadership in pushing the boundaries of non-state climate action. These efforts ensure that their contributions lead to meaningful, scalable changes for a sustainable and climate-resilient Philippines. To learn more, email dawn.cabigon@eccp.com
