Overview:
Sustainable Agriculture Forum 2017 will discuss the various alternative means to overcome the impending challenges and threats of climate change, and the ASEAN Integration. The event will address food security concerns, and recommend strategies to achieve sustainable agriculture and inclusive growth. The Forum aims to achieve and create more effective solutions through the collaborative partnership between the public and private sectors.
The Forum will bring together all of the relevant agriculture stakeholders to discuss plans and programs as well as present innovative solutions. Furthermore, the forum will strengthen the importance of investing in research and development to achieve quality and greater productivity. It is necessary that the Public and Private sectors are encouraged to invest in agriculture in order to achieve self-sufficiency and economic competitiveness for the country.
There is the urgent need to empower farmers and fisher folks through a more organized structure such as a cooperative. The private sector should be encouraged to continue to develop innovative technologies and seeds as well as efficient and effective value supply chains that are expected to improve productivity and economies of scale. Through innovations in the sector it is expected that agricultural output would be more resilient to natural disasters brought by climate change.
