At 32, Maricar believed her chance at finishing school had already passed.
Not because she lacked ability, but because life, distance, financial limitations, and the reality of being Deaf created barriers that felt impossible to overcome.
Through ALSenyas of Davao de Oro, she was given a second chance.
With digital devices donated by ABS-CBN Foundation’s Programa Genio, learning became accessible.

Sign-supported video lessons could be replayed.
Concepts became clearer.
Confidence grew… quietly, steadily.
This year, Maricar completed her basic education.

This story is not simply about tablets or television units. It is about dignity. It is about opportunity. It is about building systems where inclusion is intentional.

At ABS-CBN Foundation, we continue working toward a future where access to learning is not a privilege, but a right.
