ECCP Cebu Tourism Committee chaired by Ms. Dottie Wurgler-Cronin, General Manager of Sheraton Mactan and co-chaired by Ms. Gwen Dela Cruz, General Manager of Seda Ayala Center received audience from the Department of Tourism Region 7 Regional Director Shalimar Hofer Tamano in a meeting last January 15, 2020 at the DOT 7 Conference Room.

The committee presented the issues and ideas raised by members during the first ECCP Cebu Tourism Committee meeting last October 17, 2019 as well as updates, plans and concerns coming from the different stakeholders of the tourism industry. Among the issues raised were about the regulations on Angkas and Habal-habal, traffic problems, clearing of sidewalks, garbage problems, and regulations on Airbnb. 

RD Tamano also provided a glimpse of the plans of the regional office for the tourism industry for the year 2020. Certain collaborations with other government agencies, LGU's, and the private sector in addressing tourism-related concerns are already made. 

The meeting was concluded with a potential partnership between DOT Central Visayas and ECCP Cebu Tourism Committee to adopt the Tourism Industry Skills Program (TSIP) towards alignment of sustainability and value creation for all stakeholders in the tourism sector in the region.
