Integrity is now an honored guest at the Philippines' table. Once overshadowed by a systemic corruption abetted by previous government leaders, Integrity is today recognized as the even hand that levels the playing field so that business can be conducted at the speed of competition and not at the mercy of corrupt politicians. Integrity has become a powerful, existential force that has boosted economic growth. It has restored trust in government and with trust many good things are becoming possible for the Philippines.
The victorious ascendancy of Integrity was the heartwarming backdrop to the 2nd Integrity Summit organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the Makati Business Club (MBC) last September 18. Over 500 visitors attended the conference at the Hotel InterContinental Manila.
The high quality of the conference’s speakers, especially those from the national government, testified to the enormous importance now attached Integrity is within government and as a way of conducting business with government.
The government’s speakers were led by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III; Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno; Secretary of Public Works and Highways Rogelio Singson; Secretary of Budget and Management Butch Abad; Kim Henares, Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and Lilia de Lima, Director General of the Philippine Export Zone Authority.
Pres. Aquino, Integrity’s poster man, set the tone for this day by affirming the role Integrity played in restoring Philippine economic growth and reaffirming his commitment to ethical government.
