ECCP ANNUAL REPORT 2010

The Business Environment.  The year 2010 ushered in a new hope for the Philippines with the election of President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III. The first ever automated national elections that led to a quick and credible election results has catapulted a leader seen as the choice of the people. This was so far the only election in recent history that yielded highly acceptable results to the satisfaction of majority of the Filipino voters.

President Aquino III won by a good margin signifying the people’s approval for his leadership and support for his campaign to root out corruption so that poverty can be reduced if not eradicated. His campaign slogan “Kung Walang Corrupt, Walang Mahirap!” (translated as “If there is no corruption, there is no poverty”) worked its way to the hearts of the voters and became the main focus of the President when he took over the government.

The new Aquino Administration is faced with a big challenge to turn the image of the country around and to steer economic development in a direction that will bring forth social equity.
